sooooo? How is it?

So you came all the way here and didn't look at the new website? Rude.

Anyway, I'm working on a few projects that are drinking a ton of my time so among other things, i'm downsizing a lot of elements that aren't necessary, such as my 'online presence.' That's right folks, it's 2013 and i'm getting off the interwebz. I'll still be posting photos from time to time via twitter and facebook and uploading a few cool videos on youtube but not a lot of interaction. Be on the lookout for some neato stuff soon. Feel free to take a look around the new site, over the next week or so i'll be uploading a grip of new stuff.

UNTITLED TITLE

I'll start this off by saying I just came in to some money. I just found out that i'm a Nigerian prince and I have over a million dollars waiting for me.  . .so I won't be blogging for a while on account I'll be rich and successful as a rightful ere to the throne. Also turns out that there are hot singles in my area. I knew things would fall into place.

In other news, I actually started this post about 2 weeks ago but because i've been so busy claiming my millions I haven't had much time to blog and share emotions. I'm here now and that's all that matters.

I've got a handful of projects on my plate right now that are DRINKING a grip of my time but soon it will be summer and I'll have plenty of new content to drop on your heads. . . . figuratively. Just kidding. Literally. But seriously, a lot of goodies on the way:

1. 199X Summer Collection (Can't tell too much or I'll have to end you etc. etc.) - That's right folks, some brand new goodies from 199X including snapbacks, tees, tanks and other gear. If you didn't know, now you know and I'm back to poke some holes in yo' wallets. Quality garments at great prices. I've also lined up a few collabs with musicians and such to bring you some wavy visuals as well. Just stay tuned and it will all become clear.  199x website

2. Prints - I get a ridiculous amount of emails (not really, just makes me sound official) about prints, artwork and other miscellaneous work people want to steal or tattoo across their face. I don't have a solution to either of those except I'll be opening a mini online shop featuring some of my prints. From there you can feel free to sleep with, taste, smell and even tell your friends about. Seriously, I want you and your friends money. Check out some of the prints below. 3. Paintings - Summer is coming and i've got a few shows lined up so if I haven't convinced you yet that your money belongs to me than I'll have to hookup the swirley and shake you dry. Times are hard okay? Check out some of the photos below of the paintings that aren't done. 

4. Videos - With the frequent emails about my artwork, I have been getting a lot of hits and questions about my youtube and various social platforms and why I haven't been putting out work. As I mentioned before, I've taken on a few projects that are very time consuming but once completed, I'll have a lot more time to post those ever entertaining videos including music videos and some of the projects I've been working on. Plus I'm growing distant of facebook, youtube, twitter etc. Go outside and play catch or something. Don't you love these vague posts? WHY YOU STILL READING THEN FOOL?

Ever blink and your weekend is gone? I'm not growing very fond of this routine . . .

I've got some cool stuff finally starting to build steam including a new spring line for 199x (clothing) in March/April. Unfortunately they're all belly shirts and trucker hats :( 

I'm in the process of editing a couple music visuals at once so I haven't had much time to crack anything out for my own youtube lately, but it will definitely be worth it. I'm super stoked for Walking Dead to resume so I've been working on a couple themed pieces that I may or may not turn into prints. I've also been pretty steady on client work which contributes to me time or lack thereof, but it's all good. I've gotten to work with a lot of really cool people lately and really start to get a taste of the "industry standard"

In other news, I finally decided to come out from under the rock and a few friends and I toured the city this weekend. Shooting photos, hookah bars, a couple shows and concluding everything with good food and new master plans for world domination. I'm really excited to bring some new stuff to the table soon and I think some of this new content will turn a few heads. . . . until they pop.

ERMAHGERD 2013

What? Where did you hear that? Look, I don't even- How? Seriously. That doesn't even make sense. I'm not even going to get into it with you right now. It's whatever. So yeah.

So look, all I did was tell you about this last weekend and what not and you freaked out.

Anyway It was good to start shooting some more visuals for more familiar faces, in this case MC Quantum, AKA took me to Gates BBQ for the first time. (I'm very sad to say it was my first time) (That's also not what he's also known as but seriously, he took me to Gates BBQ for the first time) We started shooting for his latest single, 'Maintain Mainframe' check it out here and also peep the rest of his tumblr while you're there, then look at mine, then back at his, then mine again. 

I'm also working on a gargantuan plethora of new stuff. REALLY NEW stuff. Still has that new stuff smell. I also have a ton of collabs and really cool stuff to roll out within the next couple of months. The arcade will be wrapped up, walking dead pieces will be done and the web-store with all the new prints will be available and then some.

Haven't seen you for a while. How have you been? Well good for you. Glad to hear it.  

 
Me? Nah, I haven't done much. Just trying to stay productive. I've worked on a couple cool projects with awesome people the last couple of months and I've got a ton of new goodies lined out for the beginning of 2013. I've actually been waiting to put it out but i'll probably wait to make it look like i'm a lot more productive than I really am. I suppose telling you that doesn't help either. A grip of new collabs dropping soon as well, even 1990x is getting a facelift. 

Nonetheless, i'll keep this brief and drop some of the latest work and some shots from a field trip last weekend to Lawrence, Kansas. Had mexican food and a margarita for brunch and a side of nausea.

Welp, this is my last weekend as a free man so i'm uploading a ton of goodies to the site to keep you occupied while i'm gone. I left some pizza money on the table for you, so try not to blow it all in one night . . .i'll be gone for a while. I can't tell you why but it's kind of an odd situation. You see, I've become a slave to the 9-5. So now I put on the warpaint and jump into battle. Battle to sustain my future and provide. I have others relying on me now. Okay, That may have been a little deep but the principle is the same.

In all honesty, I will be gone for majority of November. Deep in the barracks of the workforce. Plus halo comes out on the 6th and I've already made arrangements to take the battery out of my phone, neglect my girlfriend, quit my job and ultimately reclusify myself within the confines of my room. So if you're needing work done . . .sorry. Busy. (but i'm really not sorry) (sorry).

How about Walking Dead huh? Rick is about to get BUCK.  . .Also does anyone else notice he says, "Carl" as "Quarrel?" (Say it out loud and you'll get it) Either way, definitely a solid episode. A bit of a deviation from the comic of course but I think this outcome is a bit more...'natural?' 

All in all, tonight was a good night, ate some good food, kicked it with some family and friends and said goodbye to my ex coworkers. (They had to hire 2 people in place of me) 

 

So I decided to put out the Frankie vid on account It would never have the opportunity to see the light of day considering I won't even be remotely close to my computer to do anything productive. I originally intended to put this out a while back but failed miserably. For more info on this project feel free to check out the project profile. I also had lined up to release my 2012 showcase visuals, as well as the video for the arcade cabinet i'm restoring and I went down in flames in both projects. They are just coming along much slower than i'd like. I'm actually writing this at 1:40am and I JUST NOW realized that i'm waiting to go to work at 7am (all-nighter) but the thing is, it's daylight savings so i'll be up an extra hour for no figurative reason (relative to this rant.) (shit)

So I'm working on a lot at once right now on account i'll be gone for a while come November. By a while I mean forever. Halo 4 comes out and i'm locking my doors, pulling the battery out of my phone, quitting my job and fucking over everybody that needs work done.

Just kidding, but seriously, I have a lot coming up in November requires my full, undivided attention. (we're talking life altering shit) so chill. I'll be back soon. What does that mean for you? Nothing, but as for you, it means I'll be uploading a lot more content within the next couple weeks on account I won't be around to post anything for a while. I will have my tumblr que'd up and may post on twitter from time to time but other than that, the rest of the content will pretty much cease come November. :'( 

What to expect:

1. Frank Ocean x Akira Video - a video combining a drawing video plus scenes from Akira (1988 anime; If I have to explain it, you shouldn't watch the video)
2. Arcade restoration - I got an arcade on craigslist for $20 and I'm in the process of gutting it and throwing a super nintendo in it. Then I'll proceed to destroy all of my friends girlfriend computer in every game. Ever.
3. Dom Chronicles Music Video - Pretty close to wrapping up a music video for a homie of mine Dom Chronicles. We're shooting for a track from his new album "Afterlife" (It's free, download them shits)
4. 2012 Showcase - Anything and everything produced in 2012. Artistically put together and a completely different angle than my traditional videos. I'm having a lot of fun putting it together...but it's stressing me out.

Also I went to Springfield Missouri. Don't go there. I couldn't help but feel the energy being sucked out of me, i'm not sure what it was but it felt like an ominous cloud hanging above me the whole time. Either that or the 3 hour drive with NOTHING in between to get there. I did drive through a few towns I had never heard of including Humansville and Marshfield and I kid you not, Marshfield Missouri looked like something out of Abe's oddyssey (video game). At least the hotel stay was nothing short of stellar as you may see below. Nothing but the best amenities that Springfield has to offer.

I did feel a bit out of place but at the same time it felt like home. It had A LOT of what my hometown had and then some but somehow it still looked like it was furnished in the 90s; hadn't been updated in a minute. I was out in springfied shooting a wedding for a friend, got to see some old friends, make some new ones and life moves on.



I tell myself I'll be making prints of this but then again....I probably wont.

I just got out of the shower and started writing this. (Now that's love) I did throw on a sweater my grandma got me about 2 years ago that I told her I wear on the regular (even in the African summers here in the midwest) and this mug is so warm I don't even have to wear socks and it's chaplippedCOLD outside. Not sure where these adjectives are coming from but I get a feeling you know what I'm talking about.

Sup? This last week was pretty rad, I got to see AESOP ROCK and A$AP ROCKY in the same week. I hate to the fact that I have to bold their names but eh, it happens.  Shouts to Steddy P for hooking up the guest list.

Frank Ocean - The video is almost done and i'll have a project page for it too. I feel like I should make prints of the final product but I know people don't give enough two shits to watch the video so I'd have trouble selling them. Story of my life. Anyway It's a bit different that most of my other videos and I had a lot of fun making it so stay tuned and it will be up within the week. I hope you'll like it.

So this cabinet is coming along pretty well, I just ordered the arcade pads and joysticks for it. Originally I wanted to wire up my own but I'm not going to act like I know how and lord knows I don't have any friends so I'm going to justify ordering some by saying that I want to keep an original feel. (That doesn't even make sense) Also, as I mentioned before, upon completion everyone who reads this is invited to the little party i'm having to make it look like I have friends (for video purposes) and at this event i'll be handing out free ass whoopins' in any snes game of your choice. 



Oh hey, I forgot to tell you. I got a new job.

 

Someone set us up a bomb . . .

I've always wanted my own arcade machine but didn't know what game I wanted and eventually I would like to turn my basement of my dream home into an arcade/padlocked mancave but until then I decided to restore one but take a different approach. I got this system for $20 and the monitor was blown. Instead of buying a new one I just decided to gut the entire thing and now i'm in the process of restoring some of the cosmetic damage and I plan to convert this game into a Super Nintendo cabinet. Wiring joysticks and the works into this thing. It will definitely be a treasure when it's complete. 

Handing out free ass whoopins in the following: Street fighter II, Mortal kombat Gold, Tecmo Superbowl, Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball, Killer Instinct, NBA Hangtime. 

When it's complete i'll be sure to let you know when you a good time you can stop by and get embarassed.

In other news, I went ahead and updated all the social networks I don't use including Facebook, Tumblr, DeviantArt and More! Check em out! I also recently joined Instagram....no biggie.

I would also like to share this feature on my girlfriend's phone. She has 'voicemail-to-text'. Oh you don't know what it is? Basically it's intended to convert voicemails into text messages. In this situation I accidentally butt dialed her and by the sound of the 4 minute long voicemail, is nothing but shuffling and grunting from moving the said arcade cabinet.....her glorious feature on her phone gave her the following message: (Keep in mind this is straight copy and pasted from her phone on top of the fact that I wasn't in a good 10 mile radius of anyone I know named Mike . . .or pete)

"Hey mike ... we'll hopefully see you was it over or thanks if it but ... So I started this post about 2 weeks ago and completely forgot about it. I'm not sure why I'm coming back to it but I'm here so lets move forward. My bran is racked and I hate to say it but I haven't been as creatively active as I would like to. We'll just say I've been . . .busy.

I've been hitting on this subject a lot lately; Nostalgia. Sometimes I feel it coming and I'll zone out just to keep the feeling going. Once I snap out of it I start to question myself. As if I'm a bad person for wanting to get high off my own drug. It's what It feels like and upon further investigation of what it is that makes the nostalgia so gripping I've come to the conclusion that it's not anybody or anything in particular that I miss, it's just being comfortable with myself. Comfortable with what is to come and my lifestyle. Not worrying; no reason to. Some have said I grew up and left too fast which is partly true but I feel like there is a window of time I don't remember. It's very cloudy and I can't make much of anything. 

I miss my friends, the family I had, the time spent not doing a damn thing, countless hours playing halo, time spent not doing a damn thing with friends etc. The most I ever had to worry about was where everyone was going to be on the weekend or what I was going to spend my allowance on. Everything seemed much happier and bright. I can't help but feel 'awake' to the world. I see what people are really made of and how the world really works. Deep down. I feel something hurting. I'm not an oblivious person . . and I can't figure out what it is.

I have started picking up a lot of steam on my short story. I'm not going to say the title of it or what it's about but I can tell you that it will be a niche read. Nothing you'll lose sleep over but I'm hoping you might be able to share my acquired knowledge in your own situations. 

I've also started working on a Frank Ocean piece as well as a walking dead project. Both of which are drawings turned digital/print but they aren't quite done yet so stay tuned.

I wake up. I'm feeling anxious. I feel flustered. I can't think. I can't remember what time I work, what client projects i'm working on, who i'm suppose to meet or if I even woke up on time. I stand up while I try and process why my memory is so cloudy. I snap to. I had stood up for about 3 minutes straight. Finally make it into the bathroom. I sit down in my computer chair and face my login screen. 5 minutes go by. I snap out of it. Put in my password. Then I forget what I even got on the computer for. I start to change into my work clothes. I never checked the time. I'm not sure if i'm hungry. 

I don't know what's going on.

Upon further investigation I came to the conclusion that I was stressed out.
For the first time in my life I was truly stressed out. I could barely function let alone try and focus on the task at hand. It's a terrible feeling and I no longer wish to be accompanied. I came home, turned on some jams and just started drawing and a small portion of the big load was lifted. 

After testing my hypothesis, I believe that my production or lack thereof has caused me virtually close all creative outlets. Among other things, drawing helped relieve the pressure from the related issue. My entire world is about to change and fear of losing interest or desire to create is starting to kill me.

I have started lining out a few major projects and pieces but until they're in production, they're g14 classified. (Sorry, I don't make the rules) I will add that I have started writing a short story. It's going to be super butchered but It's helping me vent. BOOYAH.

60 hours

I've been writing a lot lately (offline) almost a journal if you will. It will probably be made public close to a year from now. For use of a better phrase, "I got a lot going on right now." Not spoiled teenager stuff but serious life lessons are being dropped on my shoulders. I may or may not share with you in due time. The point is, I've just been thinking a lot lately, to the point I feel it's too much. I'm not sure how much I should be wondering off in my own mind for fear I wont make it back. 

I'm writing this at 9am, before I go to work. Work that I don't necessarily hate, it's just work that doesn't make me happy or provide what I need to put things in place to make me happy. For my current situation i'm forced to work a more demanding job that I hopefully have lined up already. It has it's pros and cons like any job like the pay for example is great but the hours are awful. Over 60 hours a week I would be working and I pray to god I don't lose my creative outlets. I'm definitely going to lose time and energy but I feel with enough drive on my end, I'll be able to balance work and passion (art/design you weirdos).

Anyway, I have to get ready for work, so pardon me while I waffles. (?)

Keep it moving

So I can't stop watching this and I don't know why. Well I do know why, it's just hard to put into words without sounding like I'm drooling on myself. (Which I am)

Anyway, this short film is nothing short of powerful. There are SUBTLE movements and actions that speak within itself. I can't even begin to count how many times I've just sat here and watched it. From the transition between songs, to the symbolism and imagery all the way down to the characters, the entire three minutes and forty-nine seconds is moving to say the least. 

I love the ambiguity of the piece as a whole.  It's visuals are somewhat open for interpretation but in the end, a man is dead and in his last animation,  he trys to interact with his environment, realizes the situation, so he's taken where he needs to go. Really gets me thinking about death, near death experiences or the final days. It also gets me thinking about Lotus's inspiration and other influences behind the short-film and upcoming album.

Flying Lotus debuts his new album on October 1st/2nd so if you're in need of some enlightenment via ear drum then I suggest BUYING it via itunes.  

(want to know something weird?) at about the 2:16 mark there is a shadowed character leaning against the wall....I'm not sure what his purpose is but I can't take my eyes off of him. His pose and the stillness of the whole scene really makes me stare at everything.

This short film inspires me. Inspires me to do great things. Just the sound of it. I thought I had my entire 2012 showcase video all lined out and the second I heard these tracks I knew I had to change it to coincide. I can't sit here and tell you big things are on the move because that's what everyone says but something is about to change in my life and I'm running out of time. I'd love to fill you in but you'll know soon enough. In the meantime, stay tuned for some visual goodness.

I did get a chance to pick up Akira, Samurai Champloo, Gundam 00 and all the episodes of Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. These are about the only things keeping me sane. Bringing back good memories too. I've been trying really hard to be productive but it seems like the harder I try the more counter productive I am. 

I've been thinking a lot lately too. Sometimes, WAY too deep into thought. I feel so out of tune with my inner child or the kid I used to be. Some say I 'grew up too fast' I just can't but feel like that's not a good enough answer. The only thing I can really use to describe my feeling is just feeling comfortable. I miss feeling comfortable. Not in the aspect of surroundings but within myself. Just being a kid without the stress of what I HAVE to do next, who I NEED to call next or just the overall stress of life. Nostalgia is a powerful drug. 

I suppose I'll save all the sob story shit for another post or even better, keep it to myself.

Oh I didn't tell you about my mother's wedding did I? (It was a few weeks ago) Oh yeah, my mom got re-married. It was sort of awkward in the aspect it was a new experience for me. I figured by my age now there wouldn't be a lot of new experiences but it was subtle. It was a pretty big church on a rainy day with plenty of accompanied humidity plus no air conditioning. It was interesting to say the least. I got to see lots of family I hadn't seen In years.

Here is one of the projects I started on. If you don't know by now, i'm a HUGE halo head and i've got lots of un-published halo works so I figured I'd come up with a set of something I could share with everyone. Keep in mind this is an ALPHA build of the first set the first collection. 
My girlfriend asked, "so who's the black guy?" . . .I almost had to kill her.

It's been one of those weeks. Just not giving a damn about anything. I've barely been sleeping and the only work I've been getting done is for everyone else. BUMMER

So a lot has been going on these past couple weeks and I've barely had anytime to crank out some real projects. I do have a few main focuses including a 2012 showcase/demo reel featuring work from this year and miscellaneous unpublished works. 

let's talk about last weekend. It was awesome. It was just what I needed. A couple months prior i've been having some serious nostalgia and It was becoming harder to decipher what was lost memories and what were daydreams. I was on a weird trip for a while but this weekend definitely cured. My mother got married just this last weekend (Aug 25th) and afterwards a couple friends, my girlfriend, and myself, did absolutely nothing; It was wonderful and I don't use that word often. 

Eggs. Bacon. Cheese. croissant. Pulled pork. HOT SAWZE
hotel, friends, vh1 and cheap champagne. Can't ask for much more.

Deep shit moment: I can't help but feel like I'm being dragged in a different direction. Not creatively, just in general. I feel as though someone let down a rope and is calling my name and I'm not sure what the rope is for, who's voice it is or where it leads. I guess you could say I feel my calling reaching out but it's going unanswered. I feel as though some things will change soon. Subtle changes. Bang.

So I left for a bit to go meet a client and I'd like to add this short story:

Before I left for the meeting, I took my dogs on a walk. Nothing out of the ordinary, just walking and thinking to myself. We walk around the park for about 20 minutes or so and on my way back I notice some large panels leaning up against the dumpster. As I near, I realize that they're canvases. Judging by their size I automatically (irrationally) assumed someone is either letting them dry, cure or is picking them up shortly. I get to the top of my stairs and I look down and I realize the canvases are facing the dumpster as if someone were throwing them away. I couldn't help but feel offended and off to the rescue I was. I put the dogs inside and ran downstairs to pursue the extraction mission. I didn't want to look like an idiot carrying these things back up the stairs with someone on their way to go get them but upon further investigation....someone was literally throwing these away. Aside from residual retail value they were in great condition. Handmade frames and were stretched by hand as well. There was medium already applied but wasn't anything I couldn't cover up. Long story short, I've now acquired 5 canvases. 3 of which are over-sized at over 3.5-4 ft wide.

Sup? Anyway I started a couple new visual projects this week out of boredom/curiosity. Not for anything in particular but I feel as though they would make great fillers for misc projects. Possibly my 2012 showcase video i'm working on. "You're working on a 2012 showcase video? What's it going to have in it?" Yes I am going to have a showcase reel dropping soon just showing off some projects i've done this year ranging from painting, video and photography.

Also this week I put together a video this week for Nathan Ranney (CEO) of Clockwork IT. It's cool to work with people like him that have their head on straight and are ready to move forward. We didn't necessarily grow up together but we grew up in the same small town surrounded by negativity and small-minded mentality. Nathan is a cool dude and I wish I could come across more self-motiviated people! Anyway, that's enough rambling. Peep the visuals for Clockwork IT as well as some of the other goodies . . .

So the heat wave let off a little bit today and for the first time in a while I could actually sit outside and just stare at things and wonder. . . .

The past year or so I've been nostalgic beyond belief. Not necessarily yearning for lost time or anything in particular, I've just been listening to certain songs or random items have brought back memories I thought were lost. I don't have many people around to talk about the situation so I've been left with thinking about it more often. The nostalgia has been so strong that I would completely zone out to keep the feeling going thus putting me on a new thought track of something else related to what I was originally thinking about and so on, so forth.

Anyway this will be my last blog on this site until I debut my new site a week from today on the 6th. I'll have a ton of new content available and I welcome everyone to come check it out. I'm getting tired of constantly updating my site so It's going towards a more minimalistic approach, almost like a portfolio or gallery.
